Dr. Daniel K. Gullo received his Ph.D. in medieval European history
from the University of Chicago in addition to an M.A. degree in
Theology from St. John’s University (Collegeville, MN) and an M.A. in
Medieval Studies from the University of Toronto. His dissertation,
“Eremitic Reform at Fifteenth-Century Montserrat, 1472-1497” discussed
the relationship between constitutional changes, education, and book
production during the reforms of Santa Maria de Montserrat at the end
of the Middle Ages. Dr. Gullo's research focuses on the history of
medieval book culture and monasticism in Catalunya and Castilla y León.
He currently offers courses on medieval social and intellectual
history, the history of the Crusades, and the history of the medieval
Spanish Kingdoms. Dr. Gullo is preparing two articles for publication,
“The Early Printed Indulgences of Montserrat Re-visited” and
“Aristotle’s Politics and the Reform of the Hermits of Montserrat.” In
addition to his academic research, Dr. Gullo has published his
photography in the Chicago Art Journal and is planning a children's
book based on legends found in medieval Spanish folklore.
