Georgia Historical Society Award for Virginia CauseyGeorgia Historical Society gives two Columbus residents top award -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Georgia Historical Society will give Columbus Museum's associate curator of history Mike Bunn and Columbus State University history professor Virginia Causey the Roger K. Warwick Local History Achievement Award Thursday at the National Infantry Museum. The award will be part of the program that starts at noon on the World War II Company Street or mess hall at the new National Infantry Museum. The award is for their work on exhibitions and educational programs on Columbus history. The award ceremony will be part of a Lunch and Lecture program organized by the Historic Columbus Foundation and features Georgia Historical Society president Todd Groce, who will present his lecture "Saving Private Ryan: World War II History and Memory." The lecture and program are free, but seating is limited to the first 75 people and reservations are strongly encouraged. Call 706-322-0756 or send an e-mail to education@historiccolumbus.com. Parking will be offered at Oxbow Meadows with handicap parking at a small lot on WWII Company Street. Both have access from South Lumpkin Road and access to or from Fort Benning is not required.
