Mission Statement:  The B.A. in History offers ways of thinking about the human experience across time, space, and cultures, tools to reason systematically; critical skills to examine the relationships among people and events; and the ability to make thoughtful judgment about human affairs.

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in history is designed for students with a variety of personal, professional, and career goals.  It equips the student for admission to professional and graduate schools leading to careers in teaching, law, journalism, the religious ministry, and administration.  The BA in History and Secondary Education prepares the student for teacher certification and a career in teaching.

As a program of study, history provides the student with a way of thinking about the human experience in time.  History helps the student to reason systematically, to examine critically the relationships among people and events, and to reach thoughtful judgments about human affairs.
